Treating Lung Cancer
When people suffer from lung cancer, they surely want to have the right lung cancer treatment that will help them go back to their lives. There’re many treatments options available for them, but they need to know for sure what kind of cancer types they’re suffering from.
There’re no exact reason why cancer can happen. Some people are unfortunate enough to suffer from a kind of mutation or disorder within their bodies. In normal body system, the cell only grow in limited number and only when the new cells are needed; otherwise, the old cells won’t produce any new cells. In abnormal body system, the cells grow quite fast and in controllable rate. Although the new cells aren’t needed, the cells keep growing and causing clusters. These clusters are called tumors. Some tumors are quite benign, while others are malignant. In lung cancer treatment, the benign tumors can be removed easily, since they don’t spread into other vital organs. However, for malignant tumors, the cancer treatment will be much more complicated since the patients may need to go through chemotherapy, radiation, different kinds of therapies, and also medication. Sometimes, they undergo experiment therapies that are usually designed when the cancerous cells are quite different from the common cancerous types.
People need to be very careful when having lung cancer treatment because each type of cancer is different from the others, so the cancer treatment is also different. Before people receive any types of treatment, they need to be sure about the types of cancer they suffer. It will prevent any mistake or mistreatment. There’re two basic types of cancers: the Small cell lung cancer or SCLC and the Non small cell lung cancer or the NSCLC. The NSCLC is the most common types of cancer often happen to people. About 80% of cancer patients suffer from this kind of cancer. Meanwhile, the SCLC is a bit rare and quite aggressive. Sometimes it’s also spreading to the brain area, so patients often receive Prophylactic brain radiation as a part of their treatment.
Cancer patients are given treatment options, whether they want to have one type of treatment only or several types at once. Some patients are comfortable with medication or chemotherapy only, but some others prefer different types at once to have bigger chance of being cured completely. But they need to remember that several lung cancer treatment methods at once will make them more vulnerable from side effects of the treatments.
